McCain Yorkshire Coast Road Race and Family Fun Run
Follow a scenic route around Scarborough and help raise funds for the NSPCC
Date of event: 11 October 2009
Venue: Start - Scarborough Spa Complex, South Bay
McCain Foods (GB) Ltd has joined forces with Scarborough Athletic Club to announce their first ever 10km road race along the Yorkshire coast, as well as a 2.5km family fun run.
Road Race
The 10km Road Race will start from the Scarborough Spa Complex, South Bay, and will follow a traffic-free course along the sea-front.
The race will be a great opportunity for families from in and around Scarborough to train, get fit, raise money for a really worthwhile cause and above all have fun
The 10km course is almost perfectly flat with approximately 10 metres of climb throughout. The course goes through Sandside, around the Castle Headland and through Northstead Manor Gardens, along North Bay promenade to the Sealife Centre.
Electronic chip timing will be used from start to finish on the 10km race to ensure that each and every athlete is guaranteed an accurate time, regardless of how long it takes to cross the start line.
Family Fun Run
The family fun run will also be starting from the Scarborough Spa Complex, in South Bay.
How to get involved
For the first year of the event, the running club has chosen 5 charities to support - which includes the NSPCC.
We currently have fifty reserved places for the event.
For further information please contact Jo Dale at jdale@nspcc.org.uk.
Places are limited so entrants are encouraged to secure their places as soon as possible
