NSPCC campaigner Paul Ntulila appointed as rep for Olympic Diversity and Inclusion Board

NSPCC campaigner Paul Ntulila appointed as rep for Olympic Diversity and Inclusion Board

Congratulations to Paul Ntulila, member of our Talk to Trustees young people’s participation group, who has been appointed as Youth Representative on the London Olympic 2012 Diversity and Inclusion Board.

Paul has been an NSPCC service user and campaigner for six years and, as a role model for deaf young people, has been instrumental in helping the Society understand the needs of the deaf community.

His appointment came directly from the 2009 Annual Council Meeting (ACM), where he was made an honorary member of Council in recognition of the important role he has played at the NSPCC, the first young person to receive the award. Long term celebrity supporter and 2012 Olympic Ambassador Floella Benjamin gave the key note speech at the ACM. She was so inspired by Paul that she nominated him for the position, which he was awarded after impressing at his interview.

As Youth Representative on the London Olympic 2012 Diversity and Inclusion Board he’ll be contributing his views to huge a range of issues, such as ensuring tickets are accessible to a wide range of people and getting young people excited about volunteering.

Emily Cherry, children and young people participation advisor at the NSPCC, said: "Paul is an inspirational young person who is determined to make a difference to all young people and promote deaf issues. I'm sure he will succeed in this exciting new role and he is already committed to ensuring he promotes NSPCC to the 2012 committee. He's a great example of the effectiveness of involving children and young people in our work."

Look out for an interview with Paul in the next edition of Network, out this month.
