Schools in Scotland elect ChildLine champions
Pupils from across Scotland got to experience firsthand the new features being introduced to www.childline.org.uk at an event in the Scottish Parliament hosted by Green Party MSP Robin Harper.
Over 40 young people from primary and secondary schools attended the event. As well as exploring the new developments and meeting MSPs they were also invited to become ‘ChildLine champions’ helping the NSPCC spread the word about the online service to their friends. Young people can visit the website and download fun and creative moodies, which they can put on their favourite sites to help spread the word and show their support for the service.
Speaking of his involvement in hosting the event, Robin Harper said: “I am delighted to be hosting this event to demonstrate ChildLine's new online service. ChildLine provides a vital telephone counselling service which has helped many young people to survive very difficult periods of their lives. This new online service will allow more children to access support and information when they need it through a website as well as the telephone. Many congratulations to the NSPCC for expanding this essential service."
